Crosstown Sundown

Each year in June, for a couple of days, the sun sets right at the end of my street. It's a cool sight - like a giant fireball hurtling straight across town toward East Side.

Bee and Me

When I was a kid, I was afraid of bumblebees. As an adult, I've always thought they were kinda cool - they're so wobbly and fuzzy and they just look too darn big to land on the little flowers they're miraculously able to land on. Then, my friend D. told me that they don't  really sting, and that's when I fell in love. I love to play with them while they're going about their business. They're so single minded! At least, usually. But this one was different. She didn't want to leave my hand; she seemed to like me just as much as I did her.

Event Horizon

I love the art project at and around Madison Square Park called Event Horizon. It makes me so happy, and every time I walk through the area I tell all the tourists who are taking pictures of the Flatiron Building to look around and take notice of all the little men standing on building ledges.

Good Morning, Starshine

Among all of the activities I have ever done or currently do, snorkeling is right up toward the top of the list of things that make me happiest. When I'm doing it, I'm in constant awe of the spectacular world of amazing creatures with which I'm getting the chance to be up close and personal. I generally avoid doing anything to disturb the wildlife, but when I came across a field of what seemed like hundreds of starfish, well, I couldn't help myself.

Baaaa, humbug?

How could anyone feel anything but happiness at the sight of little baby lambs in the spring? Everything about them makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
